I don’t want to be a business expert.

business expert

I didn’t set out to be a business expert. It happened by accident. I was a financial counselor teaching about money, budgeting, and debt, and I noticed something… people were trying to do all those money-smart things using jobs and incomes they weren’t all that excited about. It’s hard to want to pay off debt or save up a wad of money if you think you have to do more of what you DON’T enjoy in order to get those goals. (Yippee-doo-dah.) But I found when I got people to talk about what they LIKED doing, it lit them up AND – surprisingly – it lit me up inside to see them excited. The problem was that they didn’t let themselves get excited for long because they really believed to make money, they had to do something besides what was enjoyable to them.

I learned my genius is in essentially reading people’s minds.

I listen to their voice, note their body language, and watch their money habits to discover what would make that person feel rich and fulfilled. And then, I help them recreate those patterns to erase the habits that get in the way of being able to create new money. I am able to see what is holding them back from having more money in their lives. And then I show them how to get those barriers out of the way so they can have the life they have been wishing to have faster! Do you think some people find that exciting?

Yep. And guess what group of people finds that most exciting?

Surprise! The ones who are already trying to make more money: Entrepreneurs! They are women and men who are trying to start a business or already have a business but cannot figure out why it hasn’t been working like they think it should. And it was as I was working with them in getting their brains to behave in new ways, that I recognized patterns in marketing, product development, and business management that new entrepreneurs tend to do when trying to make new money with an idea.

Tah-dah. Suddenly, I found myself being hired as a business expert. (Shhh… I’m really a person expert.)

What does this have to do with you?

Don’t wait until you know exactly what you are doing in order to launch your idea.

It is while you are doing something that you will come across the thing that has been waiting for you. A common trap for new entrepreneurs is to wait until they “find their purpose” before moving forward. The truth is you and your purpose will meet up on your life’s journey, so get to moving along!
